If you have been a longterm reader of my blog you may remember the article I wrote about one of my Anti-aging She-roes, Karyn Calabrese. Awhile back, I heard about her restaurant in Chicago and saw pictures of her looking as flawless as a forty year old at the age of sixty something and I was incredibly inspired. This trip was my first time in Chicago, and the most important objective of the trip was to experience Karyn’s and meet the goddess of health, in person. Happy to report that the experience exceeded my expectations.
On my first day in Chicago, me and a friend ventured over to Karyn’s Bistro, which includes a dining area with a raw vegan menu and also houses a market with to-go items, and Karyn’s Inner Beauty, her incredible spa with all kinds of amazing healing services including hydrofacials, natural chemical-free manicures and pedicures, saunas, and colonics. I had a three course meal that included raw spring rolls, a deep dish spinach pizza, and the most orgasmic raw tiramisu I have ever experienced in my lifetime. While we were eating Karyn just so happen to walk in for an interview with the Chicago Tribune. After snapping a photo with her and chatting it up a bit, we took a tour of the spa. I was so excited about the services there that I booked a colonic for the next day.
The colonic was an amazing, relaxing experience, by far the best I have ever had in my history of colon hydrotherapy. When you arrive you are sent to a changing room and given a robe while you wait for your therapist. They do not use the gravity method; instead they use HydroSan machine, which is a safe filtered method approved by the FDA that uses no force to push the water in and out of the colon. There’s a clear viewing box on the machine so you can say goodbye and good riddens to all of the waste as it leaves your body. My colon hydrotherapist was Denise, who also performs the amazing anti-aging facials at Karen’s which have Hollywood stars and health enthusiasts alike journeying all the way to Chicago to indulge in the experience. My next visit, I will definitely be headed right back to Karyn’s for a facial. Following the session, I ventured into the market and got super excited about the Rejuvelac they make in house, so I picked up a gallon along with other raw treats on my way out. If I lived in Chicago, I would seriously have to restrain myself from venturing over to Karen’s every day. Don’t miss trying out one of her three locations or the spa treatments if you already live in the area. If you leave elsewhere and you find yourself in Chicago, I highly recommend you make Karyn’s a part of your itinerary. -XoXo Raw Girl
How exciting! I am so inspired by the two of you. I only wish we had anything close to that in Sacramento, CA. You both look so beautiful… and the food looks so clean and delicious. Thank you for sharing! 🙂
Aww thanks! -XoXo
