Did you know that over at @stayingageless we donate 5% of profits from our signature program to non-profit organizations that improve the health and well-being of women? One of the programs we supported last year was the @bettyaderafoundation51 based in Nairobi, Kenya.
When I met Betty I was inspired by her story. After surviving an abusive marriage she has dedicated herself to ensuring that other women and girls in Nairobi get the support they need to take control of their destinies. The Betty Adera Foundation acknowledges that “there many barriers to achievement of life goals. For women and girls it can be: inability to complete their education or go to school in the first place, it can also be a result of harmful socio-cultural practices, or a result of sexual and gender based violence, or even lacking the soft skills required to take on a leadership position.”
“Our interventions are contextually relevant and we place community engagement at the heart of everything we do. We believe that every life matters, and we are satisfied with small changes every day. That way, we believe that with time, we will contribute significantly to changing lives for the better.”
