The Anti-Parasite Diet: Foods that Make Parasites Run for Cover

Embarking on a parasite cleanse can be extremely frustrating. You are dying to get those critters out of you, but have to work against the fact that a lot of times, parasites dictate your cravings.  Another frustrating point is that different parasites feed on different foods to thrive. So in order to really do some damage, a general parasite cleanse can be a great help but its also necessary to consume a wide range of foods that irritate parasites to ensure you have killed the various types.

As I continue on my parasite cleanse for this year, I have done a great deal of research on what foods and herbs people say assist the body in killing worms. This is the list of foods and herbs that I have compiled thus far and have incorporated in my diet, in order to really whip out a gangsta can of  Raw Girl whoop-ass and rid my body of parasites.

1. Raw Garlic – One of the number one ways to kill parasites. All effective parasite cleanses always include garlic.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar – Increase stomach acids with Apple Cider Vinegar  prior to your meals. This will keep the stomach free of parasites and  will also ensure that you will kill off any larvae you inadvertantly eat with your meals.

3. Pumpkin Seeds – Can help to get rid of tapeworms.

4. Pineapple – Contain an enzyme bromelain, that is anti-parisitic. A couple sources claim that a three day pineapple fast will kill tape worms.

5. Cranberry Juice (unsweetened) or  Carrot Juice & Carrots – Cranberry juice can be diluted in water. Carrots the juice or the veggie eaten plain kills em as well.

6. Coconut Oil – Contains lauric acid which is found in coconut products. Coconut oil is about 50% comprised of this  saturated fat which after converted by the body creates a substance that efficiently kills parasites, yeasts, viruses, and pathogenic bacteria in the gut.

7. Fennel Seed Tea – Is a mild laxative and can be an irritant to certain types of parasites.

8. Herbs: Cloves,Wormwood, Black walnut hull and husks – These herbs are always incorporated into an effective parasite cleanse and should be among the ingredients listed in the capsules you take daily from parasite cleanses that can be bought in health food stores. Cloves kills the parasite eggs that may be lingering in the intestinal tract. Black walnut hull and wormwood kill the adult and developmental stages of around 100 different types of parasites. All three are essential.

9. Pungent Spices – Spices such as: turmeric, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, cardamom, chilis, horseradish, and cayenne, all make parasites run for cover.

10. Probiotics/ Fermented Foods – Some options that can be made at home include: sauerkraut (fermented cabbage) or drinking rejuvelac (a drink made from fermented grains such as wheat berries). You can also take probiotic supplements. These help to replenish good bacteria and kill the bad.

Once again, if you didn’t know, you can get parasites a myriad of ways:  from your pets, your loved ones—or anyone you kiss, also from shaking hands (washing hands regularly is key). So if you de-worm yourself and your partner does not, you’ll be back in the boxing ring with the parasites again sometime soon. Armed with my parasite cleanse, incorporating this list of foods into my diet, avoiding sugar, and consuming a lot of greens, I am determined to knock them out in this second round. Check out my newly published book  Parasites, Be Gone! for more in depth info and a 14 Day Cleanse with original recipes. Take precautions and get to cleansing!

The alkaline diet is known to expel some parasites – I don’t know much about the raw diet – but it’s probably not to inviting for parasites either !

Parasites are comfortable in low oxygen and high sugar and acid enviroment.

    Good luck for your detox

    • Hi Candice: a mostly raw diet IS alkaline…its not just alkalinity that matters with parasites though—theres an issue with creating an evironment in which they cannot breed AND killing the eggs so that the condition does not thrive. Check out other posts for more info. – XoXo Raw Girl

Hi ! You rock with all this valuable info. Thanks for sharing.

Meanwhile, would a 3 week water fast help?

I am also considering taking some strogn medications if I am not ready for the long water fast?

Herbs are good but do they do the whole job…from adult to hatchlings to eggs…lots of the symptoms resurface after a few months due to the eggs getting fed again…

And lastly, when you eat the greens, do you wash them thoroughly and/or steam/cook them? I have come to the conclusion that raw doesn’t help and just adds to the risk of prolonged infection…steaming or cooking (Not frying) has a better value…we got to decide parasite v/s nutrition…I would take no parasite over low nutrition (through cooking)…saves a lot more time and headaches…wat you say?

  9. Kammi says:

Thanks for reminding me of all the things I need to do to plain old be healthy again… since beginning of last summer, I had completely fell off of every good habit in eating that I had been doing and feeling great…. then end of August the severe itching started and when I was incredibly sick, first time being sick in almost 2 years, I thought I was having an allergic reaction to an antibiotic that I was given for a double severe ear infection (nothing else was working, so after 10 years of avoiding anti-biotics, I gave in because I was so afraid of losing some hearing). However, the severe itching and hive like welts started right before the anti-biotics….. The itching seemed to subside, but now it’s returned and I am convinced I have parasites, since I have that creeping skin feeling with biting sensations all the time…. all over my body, it’s driving me crazy… I haven’t had any major changes in diet or anything else. So, now, I plan to find a cure for “my” itchies… I think going back to the diet I was on, making sure I consumed a lot of raw greens, green smoothies, coconut oil, etc. as described above… will hopefully get my body rid of those. Thanks again!

    • Dear Kammi: Your welcome…that sounds awful! Continue to visualize health, and yes, taking steps towards a whole green diet will always work wonders. In your case, if possible if you could get a stool test to find out what kinds of parasites you may have it could help you figure out how to attack the problem more vigorously. Best to you and thanks for stopping by 🙂 -XoXo Raw Girl

Dear Kammi, I’m currently on the Gerson Therapy for cancer and have been for 4 months. I always had suspicion of parasites and then low and behold out they started coming. Apparently the large amounts of carrot juice I consume daily (44 ounces or so) kills tapes and rounds. I then purchased some para-free and wow; now they’re running for the hills!!! Little did I know they could have started my cancer. The large kill offs have made me feel ill but I’m getting better. Thanks for your info; it helps alot.

i love all the great information you share. it’s very helpful and inspiring.

i was wondering if you happen to have any links or know of any scientific articles that talk about these natural treatments for parasites or certain parasites not showing up in stool tests, or comparing natural, dietary treatments to medical interventions…..thanks!

  13. Really interesting thanks, It is my opinion your trusty audience may perhaps want more information such as this keep up the excellent work.

Wondering what to do for myself as they are no longer in my intestines… lungs, liver, heart, brain and to a much lesser extent (seemingly) ears, and eyes.

It seems likely that a person in my situation, needs to add something to topically and hope for penetration, as well as take something that changes the blood composition.. garlic?

    • Paboodle says:

Should read, “Parasites are now in my lungs, liver, heart, brain and to a much lesser extent (seemingly) ears, and eyes. “

    • Hi! So sorry its taken me forever to respond! Were you tested and this is how you know where your parasites are located? Please elaborate, feel free to send an email to rawgirltoxicworld@gmail.com and I’ll answer to the best of my ability and post a response. XoXo Raw Girl

      • Paboodle says:

Yes, tested positive for cysticercosis but is clearly neurocysticercosis. Need remedies the penetrate blood brain barrier…. doctors too inexperienced in this area.

        • Whateva says:

I heard real good things about this Red Pine Needle Oil and that it does pass the Blood-Brain Barrier and it does destroy parasites.
(aka: Japanese Red Pine Needle Oil or Korean Red Pine Needle Oil )
(Pinus densiflora). It does pass the blood-brain barrier.

Their motto — “Harvested in an Eco-Friendly manner from trees growing wild in Korea’s high-mountain forests!”

It’s sold by an on-line company called ‘Optimally Organic’. I have not yet taken it … but I sure plan to. I do know someone who used it who had great results (IMPORTANT: read the real fine-print at the very bottom of the website ad).

She said she didn’t adjust the dose properly to her small (5′ 2″ 115lb) frame and she wound up with diarrhea for 2-days, although it did work. So, research it first, and be careful to thoroughly read everything. I think it’s safe if you follow the instructions and take the correct dose and don’t deviate from the instructions. I plan to try it soon. I just finished the Parasite program and Alkaline Diet so I prefer to wait a few more weeks.

I’ve also heard of Bentonite Clay. If you put a little bit of a good quality BC in a warm bath it draws toxins out. Follow instructions carefully, as it’s supposed to be put in the tub first so the force of the water filling the tub allows it to dissipate and completely dissolve. But, be careful as it could also draw out prescription medications as well, which migfht include birth-control pills.

So, don’t use either clay or oil if taking meds or if pregnant. Clay Baths and the Red Pine Needle Oil should NEVER be used for women who could become pregnant and not realize it until after the fact or women who are pregnant. So, be real sure you’re not pg before doing a clay bath or taking this Oil.

Also, FYI … it’s nearly impossible to rid yourself of parasites if you’re loaded with toxins and/or if you have impacted fecal matter (ick … sorry)
…gross). Dead parasites are almost as dangerous as live ones because dead parasites in the body give off toxins. So, you have to get rid of dead parasites as well as toxins and also clean out the bowels/colon as well. Dead parasites MUST be flushed out. Knees bent/squatting over a bedpan to poop (like in prehistoric caveman days) in the privacy and comfort of your bathroom allows for a complete poop evacuation. It helps a lot. Killing parasites alone is only half the battle. Hope this helps.

It’s absolutely amazing, the many uses of apple cider vinegar. It’s absolutey great for getting rid of parasites, taking this with a anti parasitic supplement from the store is great. Made a difference with my post nasal drip, sciatica, and food intolerances. Yes all those big simples from parasites! I’ll definitely have to try pineapple and coconut oil.

  18. Great information! Highly alkaline foods, fiber foods and pure water (free of chlorine and fluoride) are also beneficial indirectly for eliminating and killing parasites too.

It’s also important to add that the incorporation of anti-parasitic foods alone cannot maintain optimal effect when the host continues a pro-parasite diet.

The best is to maintain a holistic protocol where avoidance, killing, elimination and replenishment work hand-in-hand as a synergy.

    Regards.

I am going to start immeadiately taking the cloves of garlic and apple cider vinegar. I had just read on another raw food website that parasites can slow down hemoglobin from forming in the blood, which leads to anemia. This explains for my constant cravings for extra meals which has led to me gaining over twenty pounds since the summer and a slower rate of hair growth. Too bad that Im just finding this out because I was diagnosed by my dcoctor of being anemic. She had actually started me on a regimen of iron pills. Now its time for a refill an unfortunately I still feel the same as i did before taking the iron pills. I will repost my progress of starting my raw food lifestyle and garlic & apple cider cleansing within a month.

Like Kammi from WA I too have had symptoms of parasites since August. I am quite certain I got it from a job site that was very unclean and unbearably hot.. At first I thought I had bed bugs since I had visible bites and there were blood droplets and black excrement on my bedding and underwear. But no bed bugs were found. Then thinking I might have scabies I went to 2 different doctors and had 3 treatments for that. But I still had the crawly skin day and night even tho the bites went away. My dog started having similar symptoms after I did so I took him to the vet (actually 2 vets) 4 times and they could not find anything. He has been on either Revolution or Heartguard ever since, but his symptoms persist. I thought maybe bird or rodent mites had invaded my apt, so I moved, but the parasites came with me. I took a pinworm medicine a week ago and lo and behold some worms came out of me. I think I will do it again and take a stool sample to a doctor. I missed so much work thinking I was terribly contagious that I have very limited funds to deal with this. I will also start implementing your diet suggestions. Those are very helpful! Thank you!

love your site. from the caribbean. mosquitoes also carry many of the parasites that live in our blood stream. doctors aren’t willing to discuss herbs or diets, rather ready to prescribe antibiotic medication or put you on a cancer regiment/therapy and or blood transfusion. nih has a test for parasites through your doctor that takes about two months for the results. and sometimes doctors has difficulty determining the reading. additionally, i cannot get any info from the travel clinic, nor my pediatrician for my children. the medical establishment is either way behind as far as parasites, or simply do not want to study “whole” “natural” medicine. two questions are there any recommendations on foods for children or garlic doses for children? i am aware that treatment of children is

    • Hi Keith: Thank you for your comment all the way from the caribbean. I lived in Jamaica for a lil bit when I was younger so much respect!…your question got cut off. There isn’t definitive research on how much garlic could cause problems for a child. I would err on the side of moderation and have the children consume some fresh garlic that is incorporated in meals and if they are older have them take odorless garlic pills which will also prevent your kids from going around smelling like garlic! 🙂 I take odorless Kyolic garlic that is pretty amazing and keeps parasites at bay. They may have kid versions that are lower doses. Feel free to ask your second question again… -XoXo Raw Girl

      • i know this is a little late, but i just wanted to say, i once read an online warning about the garlic ills that are advertised as “odorless” or “extra potent” because garlic is a real antibiotic, and such forms can cause damage…the article said the less potent forms work almost as well. i think i may have gotten *slight* (i assume reversible) gut damage from a long course of one such product…just don’t wanna see anyone else get hurt, i wasn’t takign probiotics daily tho…just a few here and there, maybe that would have stopped it, anyways, best of luck!!!!

and thanks for the info Raw Girl 🙂

I just wanted to add my 2-cents. For those of you who are non-believers, I have a few photos of what must be parasites that I’ve been passing since I started a cleanse purely by accident.

I was attempting to clear what might have been a block naturally. I just re-tweeted this post and I have the picture that I’ve published on my blog. I have more than 50-photos that chronicles my journey from May to now September 2012.

    • Thanks for sharing! YES. Parasites are real, its important that people realize its not some sort of hoax. Once you’ve cleansed of them YOU KNOW. -XoXo Raw Girl

      • Beau says:

Yeah I know Raw Girl but the funny thing is the length of time that this can take. What would have happened if I hadn’t realized my state of health and started this cleanse? Isn’t May-September a long time, I’ve read that it is usually 3-4 months?

I guess I was in pretty bad shape and not even know it. I know that I still have them and some of them are in my lungs. Also alarming is the variety of different ones that I see – each time I am surprised when I see ones that I did not see before.

Anyway, you get the picture and I hope I’ve added some value to your blog for those that don’t believe how real this problem is.

Hello 🙂 Love the blog!! Must say that I have been vegan since the start of August after watching Forks Over Knives. I was on a candida strict diet for three eyars with no relief of my symptoms. I still had the terrible acne, the jock itch, the anxiety etcetera. It was pretty terrible. When I went vegan, this choice was not only imspired by the film, but by the fact that I developed severe nauseau and abdomen pain anytime I ate meat (my latest new allergy). I started hearing ve4ry strange and very load stomach noises in my stomach. Anytime I breathed in, my stomach made noises that my roommates could here from rooms away!!! Talk about embarassing! Being misdiagnosed for so long, I succeeded in developing all fourteen of the parasite symptoms I found on a website. I was at the point of severe abdomen pain and the only food that would relieve this pain was kale and sometimes pumpkin seeds. Well guess what? Both of those are fierce parasite killers. After starting to incorporate other killing foods, I feel like my diet is for the first time ever, actually improving my health. Yes, I am experiencing die off, but I can feel better health moving in. I have been chasing the skin parasite portion with tea tree oil everyday and myzits are slowly clearing up/are much dryer and smaller, and the jock itch, is controlled by the tea tree oil. Yes, I have to get my hands on some blackwalnut oil etcetera, but I am inspired by how much I am expelling already. Just yesterday I went into severe shock after eating nothing but butternut squash and brown rice!! I came down with instant chills, a severe headache and nauseau. All I eat now, is parasite killing 🙂 Bon voyage parasites!

    • Great job Elysia! Way to listen to your body and figure out what is going on. You are def a bonafide parasite killa! Check out the past posts on parasites. Drinking diluted apple cider vinegar in water throughout the day will help you kill them off as well. -XoXo Raw Girl

    Hi Rawgirl,
I am a mother of two and I am 32 years old. I have really been wanting to change the way my whole family eats. I came across your blog for the first time, because I was searching for a way to get rid of parasites. I have not been tested for the, but I would be shocked if I didn’t have them. I fit the profile for having them. I wanted to know if you think that I should by parasite cleanse products, or just do what you have recommended, above? I was told that I should do a liver and kidney cleanse first then to a parasite cleanse, so that the parasites will be able to flush out. YUCK, I KNOW!!!! What would you recommend?

    • Hi I am sorry it took so long to respond, I have been MIA for a month. I am currently developing a two week parasite cleanse that I will have available for sale on the blog that will comprehensively outline a juice plan/meal plan and supplements that can be taken for two weeks to rid the body of parasites. Stay tuned, and start with what I have for now! -XoXo PS you can rid parasites without doing liver/kidney flushes first. You can do those if you like, but if you go straight to the parasite problem its possible to have success.

Am an eczema sufferer for over 25 years. Now has embarked on a journey of healthy eating……in fact years ago. But with the discovery of oil pulling and drinking Kombucha coupled with undergoing TCM; Herbal and Acupunture; am now undergoing a healing crisis.
It is through my TCM practitioneer that I know now that I need to get those parasites out from the system in order to heal Eczema. That is something that non of my previous dermatologists ever divulged…. that in Eczema….the condition can be CURED. This working on a HOLISTIC approach of internal balancing of the Yin and Yang……that our immune system is our Healer.
So this dieing-off parasites and bacteria is a phase I am currently going through right now. Reading your articles and other searches on healing crisis; that is ‘it gets worse before it gets better’ makes me more resolved and determined to find a cure .
I have great faith in the two TCM doctors……Prof and Dr. A Hwang.
Thank you for such a great blog!!

I”ve been on the Gerson therapy for years to try and rid my body of cancer. I found out a few weeks ago that I had a trichinosis parasitic infection from trying raw liver juice. As soon as I was diagnosed, I hit the garlic and herbs–Big Time! I was taking 10-12 raw garlic cloves a day. I also went on the anti-parasitic diet which basically meant I didn’t eat much of anything. All or a sudden I felt the crawling in my neck, chest, back, legs etc. Then I developed an itching rash. Next, I felt biting everywhere. Then they started to come out through my skin. White hair-like creatures, black threads and larger white worms. I fought them this way for days until my skin was a mass of holes and I felt like I was going to die. Then I backed off. I stopped everything anti-parasitic, started eating foods that would pull them back into the gut and ordered Vermox on line. I can’t find a doctor that will give me the time of day but the Gerson therapy does NOT get rid of the infestation. It just kills off a few and the remaining ones become well fed!!

Hi Rawgirl, thanks for the article. I did a cleanse incorporating most on your list.
Only other things I did that I found helped were using oil of oregano tincture as well in my cleanse. It is very strong though so have to build up drops slowly and include breaks from it. I also used high dose MSM plus a probiotic that gets through stomach acid well – I have forgotten the name. Found a 3 day pineapple cleanse very useful indeed. You will find you might get a slight fever and become very sleepy in a content way with the pineapple cleanse. Your stomach will churning also, but stick with it. There will be diarehha so replace electrolytes. I used raw pineapple with coconut milk and some pineapple juice and a dash of milk to make into a smoothie. My insomnia went after this. Also increased sea salt intake and reduced sugar and drinking completely out.

After this first cleanse I used horsetail, ACV, enzymes with a combination of probiotics and multivitamins intermittently. I feel so much better and atp has helped my energy.
    Good luck all!

Hello! Thanks for posting this information.. I became infected with parasites after a sexual encounter with my bf. It took right about 3 to 4 weeks to start feeling something “different”. My first symptom was a low heavy burning feeling, much like menstrual cramps or the feeling of “fullness” in my lower region of my abdomen. I went to planned parenthood for all kinds of test. I was SURE i picked up an STD.. No luck, I was healthy according to the nurse.

During this time I was smoking MJ, I had been depressed and just smoking and sleeping my days away and one morning I guess I got a really good buzz on because the PARASITE inside me freaked out and was basically trying to GET OUT of my intestines ( it was moving under my skin and muscles around my right side – I could see it moving in the mirror! ) ,

My assumption is round worms or large enough parasites that can “poke” you can be effected by psychotic drugs as well. So, after this event I went straight to quick care center and told the DR everything. I told him I started a anti-parasitic program and I bought dried woodworm leaves. ( this is one week from the first day I suspected worms) The Dr said if I didn’t feel better in a week, he would do an ultra sound on me but his advise to me was, keep up the anti-parasitic medicine and learn to live with other creature inside us because – his words – all living things have parasites.

Fast forward from the beginning of May to now – Nov 13th – Ive been to the ER twice – the first time the Dr gave me Albenza – it helped for about 4 days before I felt movement and heavy pressure under my ribs, my stomach was swollen – I was a mental MESS! I can feel the parasites getting agitated by all the concoctions I was eating and drinking – those homemade Cures did NOTHING but make the parasites move out of my intestines and into my legs – then they moved into my head and i had very sharp pain behind my eyeballs. I once felt a parasite stab or break through my insides and move down my thigh…

No doctors would help me, my GI wanted to do a colonoscopy – but im just 40 and all i need is anti parasitic medicine! Noone would help me..

I finally became hysterical one night in front of my family, crying on my bed, sobbing that the worms are going to kill me. To have deadly creatures moving around inside you and you cant get them out is a nightmare that i lived through to this day. What saved me was going to the tack and feed store and buying ivermectin with praziquantal antiparastic medicine for horses… Taken 3 times a day, small pea size amounts is what almost cured me. I didn’t do the treatment long enough and im about to fully commit to it for 2 weeks straight as I still feel something poking in my body, i still have tingles down my legs but the parasites are no longer carving out trails throughout my body. This experience has led me into a few career in the lab setting. And now my animals are also protected and everyone who knows me knows that i care about their health and I help spread the awareness of parasites.. Also learned some good things about Rockefeller and his anti parasitic campaign in the 1920’s when round worms were an epidemic.

I went to many Drs, had stool tests, blood tests, xrays, natural stuff nothing really worked but just plain ole chemical poisons. But I must say, reserve that for as the last resort, now that I have them much under control, I can use a gentler all natural approach..

Also too, I had serious die off – after taking an excessive amount of garlic and dewormers for animals… I went to the ER, they sent me home without ANYTHING even though my white blood count was high… Luckily my friend had some meds, antibiotics – Clyndamycin… and i took those for about 4 days until my pain, itchiness and the raw ripped sensations i had in my intestines went fully away – then i developed IBS for a week or so, actually I had IBS the whole duration of having parasites. Which I do feel some pressure every now and then under my ribs. Not sure if it’s stress? IBS? Or a parasite visiting a new location… one never knows – not yet anyway.

I still have muscle spasms – im not sure if this is residual damage from my intestines, the parasties or the chemicals… I know I sound NUTS but desperate times calls for desperate measures and I saved my own life!

Unknown parasites almost killed me. I love all life but I do NOT love parasites. Kill them all!

Also, I forgot to add… ever since my battle of parasites began, my cystic acne has cleared up. I believe cystic acne can be visual sign of a parasitic infection. Eating raw diet didn’t help with my acne but killing off the parasites did!

  66. Hey there! I was just doing more research on my health journey and stumbled across this site. Thank you for the extensive list of foods to avoid while clearing our bodies of these nasty parasites. I myself have been struggling trying to gain health. The last 4 years have been an uphill battle to say the least. I just recently started a blog and decided I was no longer going to stay quiet about my struggle and finally put myself out there in hopes to one day find what’s wrong with me. If you have the time or are interested I have copied the link into my website that tells my store. Any help you could give from the research you have done would be greatly appreciated!
